HEALTH BENEFITS
Cherries are not only one of the yummiest fruit but also great for your health!
Cherries could be the best fruit you can eat.
Cherries are good for gout, arthritis, circadian rhythms and natural sleep patterns, lower blood cholesterol and reduce the risk of diabetes 2. Anthocyanins 1 and 2 are not found in blueberries or cranberries
The compounds in cherries were found to have similar activity as aspirin and ibuprofen
“There's a significant body of evidence suggesting that cherries are one of the most nutritious fruits you can eat,” said Russell Reiter, PhD, a nutrition researcher at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Cherries contain lots of anti-oxidants, anthocyanidins and quercetin.
Anthocyanidins are a group of flavenoids that produce the red colour found in all fresh red cherries.
Quercetin is one of the most common flavonols found in fresh fruit and vegetables. It is linked to reduction of asthma, heart disease and lung cancer.
Cherries are a very rich source of anthocyanins 1 and 2
Anthocyanidins 1 and 2 have been shown to reduce the level of ureic acid which is the cause of gout. On top of all that studies have shown that mice fed cherries shown a decrease in high blood sugar levels. Great news for all who have years of good living catching up!
